In a bid to transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector and drive economic growth, the Federal Government has entered into partnership with a UK Aid-funded programme known as Propcom+.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, while receiving a delegation from Propcom+ in Abuja, highlighted government’s commitment to driving inclusive economic growth through strategic investments in agriculture.

A statement signed by the ministry’s Director of information and public relations Mohammed Manga notes that efforts are being coordinated with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the African Development Bank, and other stakeholders to expand access to subsidised inputs and finance for smallholder farmers.

While emphasizing the importance of efficiency and transparency in the programme, the minister says biometric systems would be use for direct benefit transfers to vulnerable populations in the ongoing initiatives to connect farmers with viable markets.

On his part, team leader of Propcom+ Dr. Adiya Ode, expressed interest in supporting Nigeria’s ongoing reform efforts, with a focus on enhancing agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods in conflict- and climate-affected regions.

The statement stressed that the partnership will have a lasting impact on the lives of millions of Nigerians, boosting agricultural productivity and driving economic growth.
