The National Executive Committee of the Jagaban Apex Alliance, JAA is deeply saddened by news of the passing away of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, CON, Tafidan Adamawa.

Tukur was an elder statesman, politician and business mogul, whose contribution to national development will always be remembered for good.

Alhaji
Bamanga Tukur, the
Tafidan Adamawa was
Governor of Gongola State, the present Adamawa and Taraba states from
October to December 1983.

JAA wishes to recall the life and times of this nationalist, as that of selfless service to the nation. He was a Nigerian businessman and politician who served as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA in the 70s, and Minister for Industries under the administration of General Sani Abacha during the 1990s.

We recall with nostalgia, the tremendous achievements he recorded while serving as the president of the Africa Business Roundtable (ABR), and later became the life patron of the ABR, from March 2012 to January 2014.

As part of his political sojourn, Tukur was the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during former President Goodluck Jonathan administration, from 2012 to 2014.

He will be greatly missed by both the political and business class for his contributions to good governance and business development in Africa and the global community.

JAA condoles with the immediate family, relations, friends, the people and government of Adamawa State. As we encourage you to take solace in the Almighty, may his gentle soul rest in peace.

Until his death on Saturday, 12 September 2026 at the age of 90, Tukur was survived by two wives and 18 children, among whom is the Secretary to the Government of Adamawa State, Anwal Tukur.

May Allah bless his good deeds and grant him aljannah firdausi.
