AIG OLAIYA URGES ZONE 7 POLICE OFFICERS TO UPHOLD DISCIPLINE AND HUMAN RIGHTS*

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Victor Olaiya, has called on officers to uphold discipline, professionalism and respect for human rights in the discharge of their duties.

Mr. Olaiya made the call on Tuesday during the Zone’s General Lecture Parade in Abuja.
The lecture was themed “Effective Policing Thrives Where Discipline is Upheld.”

He said discipline is the foundation of professionalism, accountability and effective service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.

The AIG said every police officer represents the Force and that behaviour, appearance and communication affect public confidence in policing.
He urged personnel to maintain the highest standards of integrity, courtesy and ethical conduct.

Speaking on public engagement, Mr. Olaiya restated the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s philosophy that “Citizens are the Boss.”
He said policing is a service-oriented profession and all interactions with the public must be guided by respect, empathy, fairness and adherence to the rule of law.

The AIG also briefed officers on key resolutions from the recent Strategic Management Meeting convened by the IGP.
He urged them to align their conduct and operations with the strategic vision and policing priorities of the Force leadership.

The General Lecture Parade, according to the Zone, is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen professionalism and promote people-centred policing.
